T-Minus 4 days and counting.....

Baby Retka still has yet to make an appearance.

At my doctor's appointment this week I learned that it may be awhile before the baby arrives. This is good news, as it means that I'm healthy and that my body is adjusting well to all of the changes that the end of pregnancy can bring. Plus, Josh and I have a nice, relaxing weekend to look forward to.

No worries, though. When the time comes we are all packed and ready to head to the hospital!

Just thought I'd send an update, as I know many of you are curious!

Have a great day! Katy (Josh and Addie)

Addie's Thoughts.....

Well, something strange is definitely going on around here. Katy and Josh have been very consumed with the what they refer to as 'Baby Retka'. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I have noticed some suspicious activity.
1) Mom's belly has been getting bigger and biggger and she's been moving slower and slower.
2) Dad has been reading 'What to Expect the First Year'
3) Both of them keep telling me enjoy my last few days as the 'center of attention'. Whatever that means?!?!

Anyway, I'm sure whatever the future brings, it will be fun for the whole family. Can't wait to figure out what it is.... Addie R

Baby Retka's Nursery is Complete!

Monkey Mural

Thanks to Grandma Olsen for all of her help painting this mural! It turned out better than expected.

I'm testing toys to make sure they're ready for Baby Retka

Katy and Josh are preparing the nursery for Baby Retka. I'm doing my best to help. Today I'm testing out the toys. So far, so good. Addie Retka

Katy and Josh Get Trained

Katy and Josh attended a birthing and parenting class this weekend at Southdale hospital. It was a very good class that covered from the start of labor to birth to possible medical procedures to caring for your baby after birth. The down side is that I missed my weekend dog park visit, althought I did get a little squirrel chasing time and almost got one of the buggers...... I digress..... but I think this was a good class for them.

I think most new parents have some anxiety about becoming parents and this was a good way to give Josh and Katy a preview of possibilities of what is to come for them over the upcoming months. They are feeling pretty good about being ready for everything, are anxious for baby Retkas arrival, yet have days where they are a little nervous :) They'll probably be reaching out to all of you experienced parents to chat about things in the upcoming weeks.

They will also be thinking about what their preferences and plans for for when baby arrives and after. They'll be reaching to discuss that as well, as they want all of you to share in our experience, plus may need some help with a few things.....like taking me on a trip to the dog park :)

Please keep Katy and baby Retka in your prayers over the upcoming months !
